Goldenwood is a community that listens, and we want everyone to be able to take part, online and in person. We are working to make our website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. In practice, that means we design for readable text and strong color contrast, a clear page structure with headings and landmarks, full keyboard navigation with visible focus, descriptive link text, text alternatives for meaningful images, and pages that respect reduced-motion settings and work at large zoom levels and on small screens.

Where we fall short

Accessibility is ongoing work, and some parts of the site do not yet meet our goal:

  • Some older journal entries include images that are missing useful descriptions, or images of text.
  • Embedded audio and video from Spotify, YouTube and Vimeo are provided by those services, and not every recording has captions or a transcript.
  • Some forms and checkout steps are provided by third parties, such as HubSpot, Stripe and PayPal, and their accessibility is outside our direct control.
  • Older documents and PDFs may not be fully accessible.

If something on the site gets in your way, please let us know. We will try to fix it, and in the meantime we will get you the information in a form that works for you, such as a plain-text version, a description of an image or a transcript.

Accessibility at our events

We want our gatherings to be welcoming too. If you have a disability or any other need that would help you take part, such as step-free access, seating, dietary needs, large-print materials, captioning, a quiet space or bringing a support person, please tell us when you register or email us before the event. The more notice we have, the more we can arrange, and we will be honest with you about what a venue can and cannot offer.
